Hi everyone! I'm a student at the university and I was wondering if anyone knows where/how I can volunteer at high schools in the fall? I'm looking for experience with high school aged children because I'm going into the education program and they like to see experience on your application! Any help is appreciated!

Probably the best thing to do would be to contact the schools themselves. They all have office hours during the summer. I don't know that you can just volunteer in the classroom, but maybe helping coach a sports team or some other type of extra curricular activity?

You simply need to make contact with one of the schools at the beginning of September and they will guide you through the process of volunteering. Just get your criminal record check and child abuse registry checks done first because you will need those prior to volunteering. Criminal record check done at the police station - takes only a few days. Child abide registry check done online - can take a few weeks.
