Here's an odd thing I noticed:  
On highway 10 South of Brandon, going over Lake Clementi hill heading north, there's a no-passing sign just near the top of the hill where there are two lanes in each direction.  
 
Can somebody tell me why this sign needs to be there?? This is about 500M past a sign that reads "slower traffic keep right" which marks the start of a zone created for the specific purpose of PASSING slower traffic that can't get up the hill at full speed.  
 
My wife is convinced that the sign must be there in preperation for some sort of construction or repair project for this stretch of highway, since there are some paint markings in the area on the pavement around some defects, but the sign has been there long enough that the ditch has been mowed, and taller grass stands near the sign where the mowing equipment cannot go. To be honest, I have no idea how long the sign has been there, I use the road every day, but haven't been keeping track of every sign.

I was wondering what is going on with those signs too. There are about 6 or so, some passing, some no passing signs. Those signs were put up on July 15th, I think. As of tonight, I've seen no hint of any construction in the area.  
 
I'm thinking that it was a make work project for some of the MIT workers so that they don't have to do anything productive like repair the roads, and also as a cash cow for the government if anyone happens to be unfortunate enough to get caught passing in the passing lanes.

You mean those signs really are new? My husband and I had a rather heated discussion about that a couple of weekends ago on our way to Souris. I was convinced they were always there....

I know that MIT often does this for seal coating. So, where are the seal coaters? Doing this at least a week and a half, and counting, before the work is to be done is ridiculous. Put the signs up a day or two before the work is to be done. Common sense would dictate that. Now the signs are just going to be ignored because they have zero relevance.
