I've inherited a couple of antique chairs and the fabric on them needs to be redone. I've telephoned 1 place in town and I was quoted $650 per chair! Is this the going rate for an antique chair? Are there any rural upholsterers that are more reasonable that anyone can recommend? I fully excepted $300-400 but not $650! I realize it is a time consuming process and not many folks specialize in this anymore. Any recommendations grately appreciated!

Maybe Tony at the R store by Fabricland can do it. He recovered one for me.

looking for leather work too, we had someone show up - look - and never call back. Geez!

I don''t know who you''ve contacted already, but when we had issue with our couch we contacted the store that sold it, and they had Lee''s Upholstery do it. The girl at the store said that they like him because he''s cheap and he''s very good. The catch is sometimes he takes awhile because he''s out of the country some of the time.  
 
Well, it was worth the wait because he did an excellent job and the part he repaired is actually better than the factory part on the other side (we had to get an arm on our sectional fixed). I didn''t get billed, so I don''t know how much he charged, however.
