I notice the senior fellow that tries to catch rides to Erikson area has been stuck in town for quite a few days now, last night would have been rough for him with that storm. He usually waits at the 18th street bridge and my heart breaks every day that I see him. If anyone is headed out that way, consider giving him a lift. He's a really nice fellow that I believe chooses to live off the grid and comes to Bdn to get supplies. I think it has been hard for him to get rides lately as he cannot use the 1st bridge due to construction. Anyone feel like doing a good deed? If you can do this I will pay it forward!

i just saw him this afternoon on pacific, he hasnt been home? he does the route every single day rain or shine, are you sure he hasnt been home?

That is great to hear! I thought he only came in to town weekly for errands. If he is managing to get back and forth that really eases my mind. I have young children in bed otherwise I'd give him a lift myself.

hes been doing it for years, comes in for food for his cats and himself and water, or he did. you were correct he is a sweet man, sad things that have happened to him but he still keeps going. ive driven him to a from a few times over the last couple years. thank you for paying attention and seeing he may be in need. more people need to pay attention to each other in this way instead of the bad way

He comes here everyday. I gave him a ride a few times and he was always back the next day

Can you pm me his circumstance? I recall the article in the Brandon sun a few years ago but I don't remember the details. I thought he chose to live this way? If he is in need I would bring some things he may need to give the next time I see him.

I assume that he must be aware that there is a co-op grocery store in erickson, but chooses to come to brandon for personal reasons ?  
 
He must enjoy the journey or likes meeting strangers, either way, hopefully it makes him happy.

He's actually mentally ill and believes he has to come to Brandon for a variety of different reasons. He seems harmless but he definitely has issues.

I have personal conversations with him and he is really quite religious. The days he goes to Brandon are days that he is called there by God. This is what he told me. He did have a family who he claims left him when his religion came into conflict with his family. He had a wife and a son and a daughter I believe. He used to own all that property behind the red barn on highway 10 with the s:cripture on it. Most of the people in the area are very good to him. He doesn't usually cause trouble and spends his day praying and looking after his cats. In the winter you can see him out collecting wood from fallen tree branches to supplement his heat. His issues are mostly others issues who don't understand him. He does have some different views of the world but I don't think it is mental illness. He is a religious man and divorce and losing his family was a difficult adjustment for him.

Have given him a ride also and he is a very pleasant man. In my conversation with him, he mentioned that he used to be a teacher years ago but struggled with the bottle. Like most people, has had his share of obstacles in life.

He turned to religious to beat his addiction. He is a very pleasant guy.

To everyone that responded and to the link to the article. I'm so glad to know he has many people that care for him, definitely puts my mind at ease. Very sad about his family though
