Just wondering whether there's a nuit blanche in this city on the night of Oct'1st. Need not have to be exciting, just anything for that night should be fine

I don't believe there is, but it depends on your definition.

Yes there is. Nothing as big as Winnipeg or elsewhere, but sounds like fun all the same!

Just a question, I'm sure I will get roasted for it - why "Nuit Blanche" instead of "White Night" if thats what it has been traditionally called. Is it an attempt to sound sophisticated? Making sure it doesn't sound like a skin-head event? I wouldn't think its because Brandon has a large Fracophone population - we don't.

The concept originated in France in the ''80s, which is why it''s called Nuit Blanche. They are held all over the place, with the same name. It''s a night-time arts festival. If you don't want to get 'roasted', I'd say either phrase your question a little nicer, or do a tiny bit of research to find your answer. Not everything 'means' something lol.

Well the link says White Night started in 1984 in cities around the world. I guess thats not enough research for you.

I find it even more amusing that the true origin was in St Petersburg, Russia. So your smugness was completely uncalled for.

I thought it was an older tradition but maybe they just wanted to give it a sophisticated sound. As it's been used as an art festival title, a special town celebration and or a lights ceremony

Is francophone of some type so it makes sense that he used the French term. Just saying

The literal French translation of Nuit Blanche is white night but the meaning is "All-nighter" hence not dark/black/night but white/light/day  
 
Don't be so literal people. There's no hidden racist meaning behind it.  
 
To the OP. There's nothing great in Brandon but the WAG in Winnipeg puts on some great exhibits (next Saturday) and there's some awesome stuff in the exchange district.  
 
We go in for it every year.

a friend of mine is holding an event featuring hair, art, music, and wine.

A post in the Brandon sun about Brandon's down town having one but I'm not currently a subscriber so I couldn't find full details!
