Car vs pedestrian oct 30th 2pm 18th street
10/30/2016 at 3:15 PM
To the lady that hit me today at 18th and princess or Lorne , I would like you to Pm me or report your actions to the police and be charged.
I was running along the east sidewalk on 18th heading south, I was approximately 5 miles into my run, so I wasn't going all that fast, as I approached the intersection I seen your shiny black SUV/CUV, pull up to the intersection to make a right turn onto 18th, I thought I made eye contact with you and your young male passenger you then looked the other way to survey passing traffic, I proceeded to cross as I had the walk light on, as I stepped in front of your car it lurched forward to proceed into traffic hitting me on the right leg, I tried to jump out of the way as my right hand landed on your hood, the impact squeezing water from the water bottle in my hand, I swore, and seen the surprise on your face, and I continued across the street in shock, and got to the far curb, I then turned to see if you were going to stop or check to see if I was alright but you never, you just continued on northbound on 18th, I was a little rattled and shocked and didn't have the time to get your license plate info, I continued along 18th all the way to Richmond, expecting you would come by and check and see if I was alright or apologize, you didn't
My main concern is that you didn't see me, I am 6'4 230lb, a fairly large fella, additionally I was wearing black running tights and a neon orange Hoodie, it was clear weather at 2pm in the afternoon, there was no reason not to see me. But what if I was a young child, or an elderly person, or somebody pushing a stroller? It would have been a much different story, as they would likely not have been able to react as quickly as I did.
Being that you were turning right on a red you have the obligation to check for pedestrians, you didn't and you struck one, luckily I am athletic enough to be able to get away with just a bruise and a little sore from being surprised by the incident.
I have not filed a police report, as I didn't get your plate number, and I don't want to waste their time with only a vague des:cription of you and your vehicle.
Thanks
