Without any real inside info, what one could confidently say:  
 
-the group that took over Gullivers totally gutted the place to make it into Blu. Gullivers as folks knew it is gone  
-from the day Gullivers closed there was a lot of mixed reaction and it was clear that a lot of people as another poster mentioned might've just preferred a renovation of it rather than a total concept change  
-when Gullivers was bought, the recipes came with it (it was operated as Gullivers for a little while before the Blu Reno). Ownership at the time actually passed along the Apple crisp recipe for sharing on here. Not unreasonable to think that those recipes were also part of this most recent sale. 
-when Blu opened, then-ownership referred to their current menu as having borrowed some elements from Gullivers among other places  
-“Gullys” sounds an awful lot like “Gullivers” and was a nickname that a lot of folks used to refer to it back in the day (or "gulls")  
-amongst posters we have one person that claims to be in the know saying that Gullivers isn’t coming back and another that claims to be in the know saying it is coming back… one of them is going to be right   

 
Of course this could all be an elaborate troll job and:  
-they're simply renaming Blu, changing the signage and bringing in a giant plush world traveling mascot named Gully as an homage to the past  
-they've found a way to bait the Shoppers Mall signature sea gull population just slightly North to create the ultimate themed dining experience  
-they're just knocking the place down and using it as space for an old-school A & W-style carhop service for Wendy's... to be waited on by some dude named Gulli  
 
Anything is possible and I like surprises as much as the next guy but I'll give 4:3 odds that what we’re looking at is a visually updated restaurant named either “Gullys” or “Gullivers” that at the least borrows a lot more from the prev Gullivers menu than Blu

Looks like the July 7 date mentioned at a link above will be a no go. Can't help but wonder if theres a little more pressure to get things open now that shovels have hit dirt on restaurant additions not too far away in the Mall lot. 

I see there's a couple Gullivers coupons in the coupon book that's being sold door to door. One for a free soup & salad bar, one for a free sirloin steak entree.  
You get a look at the logo, which highlights "soup, salad, pasta" which should give a pretty good idea of what's on the menu. i:ncludes a tag line of "always fresh" (which might sound loosely familiar to anyone that uses the restaurant across the parking lot )  
 
Fwiw The sales rep said they've been told it'll be open in 2 weeks, which if it turns out to be true would have them a little less than a month behind schedule.

The link below indicates that Gullivers is still planned, latest hopeful ETA being December. Astoria Pizza is said to be tied in with it in some way.  
Still no information on gift certificates that may have been purchased for Blu, which as far as I’m concerned is the single most important question now that this has dragged on as long as it has.  
 
I mentioned this in the other thread but will mention it here because I do feel its important to know the source when assessing what one is reading. The site at the link below is run by a friend of the restaurant owner’s…. which doesnt necessarily mean that anything said is wrong or false but it's difficult for a story under those circumstances to have the kind of balance and ask the kinds of questions that you might see with a traditional media outlet (nudge nudge Q/Journal/Sun )

Someone in another thread mentioned the Gullivers coupons that are in a charitable coupon book that was being sold earlier in the summer. I feel a little bad for them since it sounds like best-case scenario the coupons will already be almost five months old if the December date happens…..but given the fact that the money has gone to such a worthwhile charity I suspect most folks are patient. The good news is that the coupon is good until September of 2018 which would still give plenty of time to use if December happens.  
 

I see they were able to open Wheat City Bar and Grill so maybe this one gets focus next?  
 
Curious if theres anyone out there that had a gift certificate for Blu that can comment on if they're inquired on status and what kind of response they've gotten? Emails to multiple addresses I have on file are going without reply, but I dont have a gift cert and am just asking to try to update folks that might.

Any word yet on when the re-opening is? The last update was that they were suppose to have an early December opening....is this still happening or are they going to be permanently closed?

Now 9 1/2 months since Blu closed. There is a still a sign on the door indicating their intent to re-open and the Brandon Sun mentioned in a recent story on Dec 9 that the plan is to "reopen the long-closed Gulliver’s Grill as soon as financing comes into play, at which point they’ll offer the same menu they offered a couple decades ago."  
From that story, Astoria Pizza is also still planned to be included.  
Still no information regarding the gift certificate/gift card question.  
I have a request in for more information and will update if I learn anything more.
