cab driver didn't any wrong you could have lied to him, how will he know.  
You are responsible yourself of your action to make sure you have your wallet and have a jacket with you in case, GEE where do you come from, this is winter.  
Don't blame the cab driver.  
If he lets that go and give you a ride before you know it people will come up with stories of why this why that and the cab driver will never get paid.  
No excuses. People don't seem to forget when comes to have fun and party

Too often. I forget my phone and wallet at home more often then i would care to admit.  
That being said this was the first time in years i have had to take a cab. My fiance was asleep or i would have just got him to pick me up. I know for next time to either take the second cab company or come home when hubby is awake.

so you''ll be sane, have a pet and have drinks but when you have no ride home and are cold because YOU were not prepared, and everything else is more important then your life its not your fault, its the big meanies fault, the guy who works hard, makes the choices that dont lead him to horrible consequences but took action because hes tired of being scammed  
 
 
that being said if a coat is still NOT more important to you, then i think YOU should be the one to deal with it! not whine when the choices you make end up with consequences you dont like, like walking home 3 blocks with no jacket

yes i read the thread, but why would you go out without a coat in a MB winter, then be mad when you have to deal with the cold

This whole thing wouldnt have happened had the cab company not had horrible service. If i had called a different company it wouldnt have happened at all. Its no different then stopping at an atm to grab cash to pay them.

she has a fiance, smokes, drinks, cab fare money (at home). All of that will buy a decent jacket, if your priorities were right.  
 
Sorry about your dog, but I just lose my mother and uncle in the span of three days and I didn't need to go our drinking, smoking, cabbing it, I survived dealing with the  
mourning.  
 
You must have had a jacket last year - wear it? No one should be offering her a jacket just yet...there is more to this.  
 
I volunteer at MCC thrift store, there are some very nice jackets there for $20.

Some of you people need to take a chill pill and lay off this poor girl. There is no reason to conduct business this way in Manitoba. Yes it wasnt the coldest night but it was still blustery and cold and there shouldnt be any reasonbto leave someone alone at 4 am when Brandon hasnt been the safest place for a while. I understand she is not the cab drivers responsibility but come on..have some common decency. Like she said, no other company does business this way. She was acting responsibly and not drinking and driving. People are HUMAN and make mistakes and are forgetful. Not one of you posting on here are perfect. She was upfront about her issue right away and didnt leave it to the end of the ride. I semi recently had a kind if similar situation where i needed to take a cab to work and specified i needed debit and realized when i got to work and had to pay that i had my moms debit card instead of mine and explained i would just transfer money to my credit card through the banking app on my phone to learn that my credit card had expired. I was out of options and had to get to work and the driver didnt want to hold on to my dl or anything just told me to come down and pay for it when i could. If he was that worried about getting his money he could of taken the two minutes to walk with her to the door step and wait a moment whilr she retrieved her wallet. OR if she did take off he would be sitting kind of pretty with a probable $1000 cellphone he could easily sell on ebrandon for twrnty $15 dollar cab fares. It just seems like he was being a dick in my eyes. Some people are just so jaded and maybe shouldnt be working in the service industry. Talk about christmas spirit..

how is it your doing?  
 
- you chose to go out without money or a jacket (something you said you do all the time)  
 
- you choose to call a cab when you knew your money was at home without informing them  
 
-you continue to make choices that justify in your mind why you cant afford a jacket  
 
- chose not to spend the night or wake fiance  
 
so ya kicked out of a cab with no jacket in the winter was your doing, not horrible service, take responsibility, buy a jacket and dont make your problems someone else's problems,

I do agree I see both sides, but regardless of why she wasn't wearing a jacket, or whether she smokes or drinks etc etc is irreverent and quite frankly, nobody's business. How many times have you gotten to the check out at the store and realized you left your wallet in the car? Or how many times have you left your house and realized you forgot your phone? Things like this happen every day and I'm sure it has happened to you too. It's unacceptable to drop someone who has been drinking**** off at 4am with freezing temps in the middle of a snow storm I would've took my chances and waited outside. Good thing you got home safe and weren't completely inebriated, fallen into a snow bank and froze to death. It's extreme but does happen.

It seems to me that there are a lot of people who have the misguided belief that they are entitled to a taxi ride, as if a taxi were some type of government social program. The drivers/companies do not have to give you a ride. A taxi ride is not an entitlement.  
 
A restaurant meal is not an entitlement either. If you need proof, try going into a restaurant, ordering a meal, eating some or most of it after the waiter/waitress brings it to you and then telling them that you don''t have any money and have to go home to get your wallet. What do you think will happen?  
 
Yeah, the "I just have to run in and get my wallet" is the most common scam taxi drivers face. Once they get out of that taxi they are gone.  
 
If you need a taxi, talk to the driver before you get in and tell them you can''t pay at the moment. They may be willing to work out a solution, but if you just get in and don''t tell them until you are halfway or almost all of the way to your destination, they can and most likely will call the cops. The cops will be more than happy to give you a ride, but you probably won''t like where they take you.

Someone decided to go out in bad weather to have few drinks  
Who cannot afford jacket but clearly can afford other things  
Forgot wallet  
Didn't inform cab company about the situation when first called them  
Now the cab driver is at fault for everything above and related consequences...just because he did his job right, probably following the company rules  
We don't even know the driver's side of the story...
