Does anyone know what happened to the daycare that was downtown on Rosser for a few months? I thought it was a weird place for a daycare but it appeared to be fairly busy whenever I went by.

Pretty sure there was something in the Brandon Sun about it last week. I didn't read the article as I am not a subscriber and it was behind a paywall. That place was actually a Montessori Preschool that was a little more expensive than most daycares due to the type of educational approach they used. I'm not sure why it has to close down though.

It sounded like the daycare was waiting on the contractor hired by the landlord of the building to create necessary exits from the building needed to meet licensing requirements. im guessing if or once the building meets daycare licensing standards they can re open. I Could be wrong though.

According to the Sun article, the building did need repair. they had hoped to get in and stay in the Brandon market, but just closed shop and does not sound like they will be returning.

We bought the paper on Saturday and that's pretty much the gist of it. Although it's a weird story - they were in this building and seems they were operating but couldn't actually operate because the license wasn't approved. The contractor didn't finish the work, which seems to be primarily about having the required number of exists at this point. (There was other work too, but that's what was left at the end)  
 
The further complicate things, the landlord had basically kicked the Cinnamon Tree and Bromley's out (at least, that's the impression you got although it was officially a "no comment" kind of situation) to attract this daycare, only to not have the building ready in a reasonable time frame.  
 
It was messed up all around. The landlord needed to get the work done and made promises to the business on things that were completed yet, and the contractor didn't do the work. The tenant agreed to occupy an unsuitable space without a clear timeline as to when construction was needing to be done. It was just weird.  
 
And no, the business owner is not reopening. They had some choice words about Brandon in the article.

Whether the landlord made promises or not they could have probably found a better location. Also I hate to say it, but based on their website, the prices for that place were outrageous regardless of the type of educational approach used. It's hard enough to find Daycare and or preschool spots in Brandon, and then to charge $1365 for a full time spot seems highly obnoxious.

I just found the article and it sounds confusing. It appears that the landlord owes the contractor for the work he's done so the contractor put a lien on the building. I think the landlord is not from Brandon though. So I was wondering if the daycare will re open somewhere else ?

It says in the article that it is unlikely they will return to the Wheat City anytime soon. So I'm thinking no, they won't be re opening. It was a very expensive daycare/preschool, so I'm not sure why they didn't pick a better location from the start, as they should've been making enough money for a better place. Downtown just seemed ridiculous to me.

Just to give some an idea of how much this place cost to enroll a child, I posted a screen shot from the website.

I think a daycare could work, in the right location. Parking is an issue, there needs to be enough for drop off and pickup, close proximity to a park for the summer would be a bonus. It would be great for parents who work downtown, and for families who live in central Brandon.

The contractor DID do the work but when never got paid put a stop to it...how much can a person go in debt? Months without being paid and more and more demands... Believe me I know first hand.  
Contractors have bills too.
