Brandon man charged with sexual assault of babysitters

A 28 year old man was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference after allegations involving a 13-year old babysitter. Police investigation revealed a report of similar incident from a second victim.

I am finding it hard to believe there is no update from such a serious crime from the paper or news. Even though he has not been tried in court yet, there must be some update. I read so many detailed updates on DUIs, theft etc, but why none for such a serious crime involving kids?

Maybe there has been an update and you missed it or maybe the case was put off to a later court date for the crown to prepare their case or something. You could try to contact the Brandon Sun or one of their reporters through social media or by phone and ask them about this case. A while back I contacted a reporter from the Brandon Sun and asked them about a story they had written and they got back to me right away and answered my question.

It's just odd to me when there are no updates on these type of serious alleged crimes, where the police even advise the person's street name - but then don't say who it is, or where the charges are at etc and you have to wonder why not when they could be around other kids and you wouldn't know it.

And I understand that someone may not be proven guilty yet and it could be damning to them to be seen as that - but then why do we hear names of petty thieves, DUI's etc?

It's entirely possible that it hasn't actually gone to trial yet for whatever reason. As for not naming the accused, it will be to protect the identity of the victims who were under the age of 18.

Yes it does appear very back logged. The free press reported the wpg bus driver killed was charged for the same charges in 2013 out on bail awaiting court. That and this are ridiculous. A flawed legal system in my opinion.
