There are people who have been stranded now all night. My son has been out on the highway for almost 11 hours. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about when they will be able to get people to Alexander at least. I realize roads are closed and people shouldn't have travelled. I'm sure everyone has travelled for their own reasons and are now sorry. I'm not looking for negative feedback just looking for helpful information.

I can't offer any help, as they aren't letting anyone on the highways to help those stranded. But I hope everyone who is out there stays safe and warm. I'm hoping local emergency services finally put a plan together.  
 
I've seen threads on Facebook of people combining resources ie., food, water, blankets and cars (sit in one car until it runs out of gas, move to another one instead of two separate vehicles running) and I've also heard the miracle that happened in souris area last night of two Americans stranded and rescued by a courageous group who ventured out.

They are still out there after 15 hours. That must have been some semi accident that they are all stuck behind.

A semi accident. There was a couple in a pile up just west of brandon! People got stuck behind them just after the weather started getting bad and then couldn't get out. I hope they do what they can to get those people and the truckers that are stuck food and water.

I just read on a friends Facebook page who was stranded that a grader is out there and a bunch of tractors to get everyone moving! Finally

I've been in contact with a friend who was stranded all night outside of Alexander near the pile up - he just told me that they're getting cars off the road and into Alexander now. He's in the town hall and getting food and drink.

there was a 4 or 5 semi pile up on number one west of Alexander. vehicles are backed up for about 7 miles. they are working at getting people into shelter at the Alexander hall. they have been asking for food and have heard they are trying to get fuel to vehicles who need it. stay home don't try to travel.

we live outside of Souris and my husband was out with the tractor last night pulling people out of the ditch.. Said it was the scariest thing he has ever done..

Was stranded outside virden all night in vehicle. Now in virden. Roads and visibility were good. Hoping roads open around 1pm.

Won't be open this afternoon. Blizzard conditions are going to persist in to the early evening.  
 
I imagine the roads (if they open at all today) won't be safe until tomorrow.
