Almost all of our elementary school are area kids who walk (or should walk) and almost half didn't show up yesterday. I don't understand why most of the "no shows" didn't attend, but it's whatever. (Parental discretion is such a "cop-out") Can't stop other parents from producing another generation of "wimps with entitlements", but I'll try not to do it with mine. Dress warm, be prepared and get your @$$ moving if you got commitments. That's our motto at home. Lame excuses don't work here. We need that instilled in the next generation, or we'll all have our homes occupied with thirty and forty year-old "dependents" that never want to take on responsibility with anything going on in their lives. No one likes a slacker. ...so don't raise one.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong. " |

Totally Agree. Funny thing is I have about 3-5 bus stops around my place for I assume different schools picking up. Those kids dressed in winter clothes, ski pants, coat, toque, mitts, etc are running around throwing snow at each other, climbing snowbanks, rolling around, etc. If you are that worried you can do what other parents do and sit in a vehicle idling every day waiting for the bus. That blows me away as I can't figure out why they don't take the 10 minutes of waiting for the bus and just drive them to school then, cause they will be waiting too at the end of the day in their vehicles to pick them up too. Everyone lives within a block of the bus stop too. Go figure.
