Ugh. Those gross, huge flying water beetles are back. Found 3 flying around my light tonight....chased me inside....I hate those things!! Anyone else have an issue with them?

We saw a huge bug outside of Superstore yesterday evening. I almost stepped on it.  
 
There are also flying cockroaches, and if I remember correctly, we identified the ones we saw outside of SS as that a couple of years ago. They had long antennae. I am not sure what the one I saw last night was as I didn't stop to look at it.

used to call them june bugs when I was a kid!  
they are attracted to the bright lights when they are migrating home

Giant water bugs and June Bugs AKA May beetles are not the same thing. We noticed the June bugs were out last night - I've been finding tons of their larvae in the ground while doing yard work this year. Promises to be bad! The water bugs hatch in the water.  
 
June bugs are harmless but annoying. They can also damage trees and plants (and your lawn), but are important food for birds, etc. Fortuntately, they're only out for a couple of weeks.
