Has anyone been fined with driving without insurance?? I had no idea mine wasnt valid n got pulled over . I immediately corrected the issue. I read that the min fine is 5000 dollars? Is this right?

My brother-in-law had that happen a month ago and he paid like around $250.

Happened to a friend of mine. They also impounded her vehicle for a month. She went court to see if they would allow her to use her vehicle (she is a single Mom) and increase the fine and they would not change the fine or impounding.

If you are found guilty of driving without insurance the penalties are:  
For a first conviction - $5,000 fine + 25% surcharge = $6,250.  
For a second conviction - $10,000 fine +25% surcharge = $12,500.  
You could also be facing a suspension of your drivers licence for up to one year.

I legitimately forgot to renew my licence and insurance couple years ago went to magistrate, pleaded guilty with an excuse at the courthouse got it reduced to 1500

I had my insurance default because i changed banks and forgot to tell autopac. I got pulled over for no insurance or valid registration. Cop took me to Autopac, paid it up, drove me back to my vehicle.  
 
Then issued 2 tickets, one for no registration and one for no liability insurance. Went to the court house and talked to someone in WPG on the phone about it and got everything reduced to around $850.  
 
No suspension, no impound, no increase on drivers premium.  
Just depends on your driving history/legal history and how you explain it to the magistrate.
