This couple is Sask., are seeking corporate and private sponsorships to help pay for their wedding.

are they going to beg for funds for the divorce also ?if they cant afford wedding then do not get hitched !

Is just ridiculous. If i had money to throw away i would not donate it to them. If they cannot afford the wedding then they shouldn't get married. Get married on what they can afford-are they going to beg for the money to live on as well?

Just wow. The nerve of some people.

I too was stunned when reading this.  
 
Why would they think people would want to give them money and then those people get to come see their wedding - lol.  
 
shaking my head - the nerve to even do such a thing is what gets me.

Maybe get married at the courthouse. Save money with your love, bravery and courage for a few years. Then when you have enough money for your dream wedding and still love each other held a big ceremony and proud of it.

This couple comes right out to ask for Corporate Sponsors and it seems ridiculous? You're kidding right? How is this different compared to Manitobans who throw Socials and ask Business owners to donate items to help pay for their wedding?

Exactly! What's the difference between this and a social!

In my day...a bit ago (haha) we sold an arm length of tickets and that was it for any extra prizes.  
 
Now they are all over town asking for donations and prizes, plus it seems the bride and groom are now putting on their own socials - I do know people that will not go to socials when they find out it is being put on by the bride and groom themselves, including me. I stood up for five weddings back in the day, and we the bridesmaids and groomsmen put on the socials and a lot of the time it was a surprise for the couple.  
 
At least socials though, are for people who "want" to go and give and it is only a few bucks. Something for friends and family to attend. Socials also won''t pay for a big part of the wedding anymore. The booze pays for itself, but you still have hall rental, DJ, lunch....so they maybe end up with a couple of thousand (if that).  
 
This, trying to get your whole wedding paid for (oh yes, you are invited if you give), is just ridiculous.

I think they are a perfect couple, because they are both losers. A fancy expensive wedding doesn't prove your love. only shows how shallow and pathetic you are when you demand a nice wedding when you can't afford it. That man needs to grow a set and tell her she can't always get what she wants.

Pretty sure this is the same guy. It says Edmonton bit he could have moved. The article said he had worked in oil and gas industry.

are the new generation and future generation not learn how to manage their money. Spend spend and spend on fun things let's keep a couple dimes from our pay cheque if a situation come up will just beg money or beg in a program because we are in proverty brackets this is not our fault. Rich people, rich company, or government should give us money.  
 
At young age a person should learn to be responsible and learn how to budget their money.

Yeah this couple is doomed because she (& or him) are greedy and shallow people with a sense of entitlement.

The article made me chuckle. All I can think is that they worded their sales pitch to make it sound like they are doing others a favour by encouraging them to be selfless, promote their company and "be part of their love story". Let's just say it how it is. You can't afford/don't want to pay for your own "dream wedding" so you're asking for a handout. As a previous poster mentioned it is similar to asking for social prizes. Technically I see no problem with it if asking assistance from family, friends or businesses you support but I find it interesting that people want to make money on free donations when they've never supported the business. Yes, it MAY help promote the business but I highly doubt that's why the bride and groom are asking for the prize anyways. The list she wants for this wedding is kind of silly but whatever. I feel like people are getting too comfortable accepting handouts rather than finding another job and saving money for what you want. I'd love a fancy, red carpet type wedding but if I can't afford it I'm not going to ask others to pay for it. Weddings are not charity! Pull up your socks, work at Mcdonalds if you need to and save, save, save. I'm not falling for the spin they put on why people should donate. Creative, sure.

Here is their website. They already have the dress hair and flowers sponsored. They also want the honeymoon covered. Like come on. The website also he lost his job before they even met, so its not like they had it all planned and now are in crisis. They planned the big fancy wedding with the idea that others would pay for it.

After having a brief look at their website, I am having a hard time keeping my lunch down.

A social is a way for the community to pitch in and get something in return.  
 
Even if it's just a temporary buzz out of a plastic cup, or the sheer thrill of listening to 'Old Time Rock and Roll', you get something for your money.

I'm embarrassed to be lumped into an age category with people that want hand outs and have no idea what it's like to work hard for your money and save for what you desire.

I disagree that socials are the same as this. For a lot of socials, the prizes are donated by family or friends. A social is paid for by the couple. People can buy tickets to support them

it says whoever gives them money gets to come to their wedding - yippe.  
 
I am not sure if it is the link provided from the original story or from looking at their web page, that they said they would have some kind of thank you for the sponsors - and because I think they are idiots, I can't really remember if it was some kind of announcement board, etc.
