A SUV and a truck head east on Richmond. Truck in the right, SUV in the left lane. A BPS van behind the SUV. The SUV is in the process to pass the truck, when the trucker decides to switch lanes. I hear a horn from assumably the SUV, to alert the trucker of his presence. The truck however keeps going, inadvertently making the SUV completely cross the solid lines to no collide with the truck. Then stepped on it to get passed him and out of the oncoming traffic.  
 
Now, can someone explain to me why the police officer pulled the SUV after and let the trucker go?

I do not know I wasn't there to see the whole process maybe no signal was performed

The trucker should have and did. Still doesn't explain at all why the SUV would get pulled over.

When did the truck begin signalling? When the SUV was alongside? While the SUV was still out behind the truck? If the latter-the SUV should have given way and allowed the truck to turn-a semi will have to start his left hand turn while still in the right hand lane.  
 
I am guessung that the police officer felt the SUV should have backed off and allowed the truck to turn, rather than having it cut into oncoming traffic and speed around to pass as it did.  
 
Hard to say for sure without seeing the whole incident.

I can see your point here and I don't know exactly when he started signaling. This truck was more like a gravel truck, size wise. I agree it would maybe be a matter of being courteous, but I also belive that just because he signaled, he cant just pull over no matter what.

From driving Richmond daily I would bet timing issue. I see it with trucks, buses, other vehicles the moment a signal light comes on it is a race to either block the vehicle or race ahead of them. Chances are the truck signaled, went to lane change, the SUV sped up to not allow the truck, swerved and passed vs slowing down (or maintaining speed and allowing truck to safely change lanes) and allow truck to enter lane. Also could be SUV speeding to overtake the truck before he could change lanes.

In good road conditions, with few exceptions, a vehicle will always decelerate faster than it can accelerate, typically at least twice as fast.  
 
So the proper way of handling this situation is braking.  
 
To explain further, let's assume both vehicles are traveling at 60km/hr:  
 
Most vehicles can come to a hard stop from 60km/hr is as little as 2 seconds, so within 2 seconds that semi is clearing you at a 60km/hr pace.  
To clear the semi in the same amount of time by accelerating, that would require a 60-120km/hr acceleration of 2 seconds (Race car speeds) and an all around more dangerous situation.

My money is on the BPS officer having a good reason.

I see your point with the acceleration/deceleration, I still dont know a traffic rule that says "throw your signal lights, don''t look, and pull over"  
 
This whole situation took place right behind me and I checked my speed at there was no speeding for sure.

You really think just cos someone puts on a uniform they don't make mistakes?  
I've personally had only good experiences when it comes to BPS, but statements like yours are scary.  
Somebody on here wrote the other day "I 100% trust our boys in blue"...  
Mustn't get out much since they don't wear blue since I don't even know how long. Furthermore, we all do a job, some do them well, some don't. Same would count for a police officer. Only thing is if he/she does it bad, it'll cost you.  
There's plenty of articles about officers screwing up, so your generalizations are horrifying to me

If it happened behind you do you know for sure the exact placement of the SUV and the gravel truck? There is more going on than we will probably ever find out about so all that can be done is speculation. Now unless someone has a dash cam for the situation that is another story. Yes police make mistakes but I too put 100% trust in them. Media will always glorify the bad but rarely spread the good. If you feel unjust that is what court is for. Explain to a judge and see where it goes.

Even if the truck driver was wrong in how he started his lane change-the SUV probably committed a bigger wrong when it responded as it did.

Luckily it wasn't me, is all I'm thinking. But yea, I can only tell what I saw just like the officer.  
 
Only reason why I originally brought this up is because you never see trucks getting pulled over in this town. I drive the same route every day to get to work and trucks do plow through stop signs every time I go to work. Yet the only vehicles I see pulled over are passenger vehicles. And that baffles me.  
 
At the same time this incident happened, a flat deck plowed through a stop sign in front of me. And the didn't seem to matter either. So within 30 seconds 2 truck drivers committed a dangerous act yet only the passenger vehicle was held liable.

I'm not sure what agenda or conspiracy theory you're trying to advance, but while no one can argue that people (in uniform or not) will occasionally make mistakes, you seem to want to paint them all as corrupt or incompetent even given Enfyre's excellent post here describing exactly why the SUV driver was in the wrong.  
 
Perhaps you should review the evidence that you yourself provided, see if you still feel the same way, and if so.... submit an official complaint rather than just relying on passive-aggressive internet forum posts that won't solve the problem you believe took place

You are wrong about trucks never being pulled over in Brandon. I don't even live in town but often when I am in town I see the police pulling over trucks.... they usually pull them over into the Keystone grounds or on a side street away from main traffic flow.  
 
In reading your post the SUV probably exceeded the speed limit by a lot and that is why it was pulled over. The driver of the SUV should have backed off instead

Giving 'er snot over a double line to overtake a careless driver is a form a dangerous driving. The SUV is more in the wrong, plain and simple. Everyone should know that you cannot justifiably right a wrong with another wrong. I've seen many times over that kind of maneuver done on the Number 10 North in the passing lanes. Everyone knows the right lane ends, but there's always that one idiot that pushes their luck to "squeak" past before those in the right lane moves over. Sometimes those lane changes are careless and sloppy, and that's why we are supposed to "drive defensively". Of course the lane changer didn't check before moving over, but anyone who has ever driven any of these routes before should have some sort of inkling of anticipation of what will probably happen. Unfortunately, that $h!++y attitude of "I'm here first and I'm going to pass you... No matter what" is getting far too common in this day and age. Yeah, he/she wronged you and almost hit you while you were trying to overtake them. But that can't justify the following actions of staying on the other side of a double line and to aggressively continue overtake and get in front of that other driver. Sorry to say it, but that kind of drivers entitlement while operating a motor vehicle will cause more accidents then preventing them.  
 
...the SUV should've reacted better by applying the brakes instead of swerving and accelerating around the heavy truck.  
 
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
