Would like to touch on this subject to remind people how hazzardous non-secured ATM's inside banks pose to clients. Years ago you had to insert your card to get inside the building after hours to get access to the ATM. For some reason though that was changed and for many banks in the Brandon downtown area, access to getting inside to the ATM terminal is not secured. When you access these ATM's after hours you are at the mercy of robbers that can sneek in after you. It happens and I don't know why the banks have not rectified this security concern. Maybe they just don't care about clients security although that's difficult to believe. Again, reminding all to think twice before taking money out from a downtown banks indoor ATM that has open access after hours.

if someone is going to rob you they will rob you whether the ATM is secure or not, they will just watch you walk in, and grab your cash when you walk out. Day or night, it doesn't matter, you have to be on alert all the time, its sad that it has come to this, but its the way the things are.

First of all, no business will ever care about you. Realize this and you'll be better off. Pull out money during the day if you know your gunna need it. If you don't feel safe don't pull it out, take someone with you or whatever. The dude above me is spot on.

Everyone has a debit card nowadays. Including people that want to rob you.

I wouldn't use such ATM's at night if vulnerable physicaly. However, should feel safe enough to use during the day (weekends/holidays) when banks are closed. It's true that a robber coukd wait fir you to exit the premises before robbing you, but then you coukd scream for help as people are out and about during the day and would probably scare the theif away. As fir debit cards, yes many have them. With todays technology rhough the debit cards scanned could be recorded and if this were the case then the theif would be easier to catch or at least the debit card holder would be questionned. I see no positives in removing the debit card access to make it wide open. Case in point is that these robberies occur more freequently in Brandon than most realise. Why make it so eady for people to commit a robbery out of public view?

the robber could just steal a debit card, no tracking then, honestly i get your point about safety but only thing i see as feasible would be not to use them at night, alone or in sketchy neighborhoods

They may even have magnetic gadgets that could unlock the doors, not sure! Criminals tend to be savy and at times are one step ahead of the law. It would be nice to see the banks at least make an effort to keep patrons a little safer and I do agree to know your surroundings by scanning the block before going inside to the ATM and plan during daytime and with a buddy if possible. How do I know? I know of one recent robery (Senior person) at such an establishment at 1:30 pm on a Saturday and hearsay from police that it wasn''t the first time. The thread is to remind Brandonites to be vigilant when using downtown ATM''s after hours as theives have targeted and probably will continue to target those they see as an easy target using an ATM in an unsecured indoor area.

my thoughts said "Is cash back at stores. Home Depot, Walmart,Sobeys for a few if I am at Sobeys/Safeway always get cash back same at others and no bank charge. My bank is out of my way and if we use another ATM get get a bank charge . More and more stores offering cash back. "

does cash back too.
