I am curious as to what is expected? Surgeon up and leaves leaving the Boundary Trails now scrambling. They are trying to schedule with two other locations I think I read. The story hasn't indicated how long he has been waiting for reschedule. I would expect a month wait at least trying to get rescheduled into another facility until another surgeon can be found. I know people will try and slam the PC's on this somehow but reality is some guy quit leaving the facility hanging. Another person will fill the position, just needs some time.

Nothing had been told to the man or his doctor about rescheduling his appointment. Now that the news is involved they are talking about trying to rectify the problem. Really poor practice from Boundary trails to just leave people hanging like that!

Obviously it’s going to take time to get a new doctor as they are a smaller center. It’s easier to get doctors in Winnipeg and Brandon. Our town is smaller than modern/ winkler but it took a pretty long time to replace our doctor and I expect it will take time to find a doctor that wants to work in a pretty small city.

But what if Boundary Trails still knows nothing about rescheduling? If they sent out letters to everyone saying that, then someone would complain about the time and money being wasted doing that. It isn't 'poor practice' if they simply don't have any information to communicate to the patients.

Yes Matt, it is terrible! I am sad to know it is happening to may. One of the things I have heard is the surgeons can only do a certain amount per week and this causes a longer wait. I too am awaiting surgery but can at least get around some. Scary to think what it will be like in another 20 years!

Perhaps I am mistaken but I was quite certain it was he. I will double check my facts.

I had a patient who just saw him a few days ago.

This is the new reality in Manitoba. If you want service, live in Winnipeg. Medical professionals can choose to live and work anywhere, and, small centres cannot attract them.  
 
Here in Dauphin, doctor jobs go begging, nurses, audiologist, physical therapists. Jobs that have been empty for years, will stay empty.  
 
You want health care, move to Winnipeg or southern Ontario. Nobody is going to "do something".
