I live just down the road from where the pigs were, truck probably turned the corner on 346 to or from the hog barn and the pigs got out, they were walking around fine.
Accidents happen, stop being so high and mighty. "
Accidents do happen and it’s great that the escaped pigs are not injured, no one wants to see unnecessary harm inflicted, in this case all seemed to end well.
However all transported loads must be properly secured and the trucker should have checked more thoroughly. Especially in the case of transporting animals it is the transporters responsibility to ensure the health and wellbeing of the animals that he or she is hauling.
Whenever something like this happens it puts the spotlight on the rest of us that safely haul livestock daily. In the UK we had to attend a course and be certificated to haul livestock further then 42 miles. It was a very basic certification but also I found it informative. A similar program may be beneficial here in Canada.
