I know it is frustrating prepping to cook and the odd dish/utensil is crudded up. I usually do the washing and let others help dry/put them away. Enjoy a beverage at the same time

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode ~ the jerk store called... lol

This site is hilarious. I make the odd off topic post that might be a little questionable and God err I mean Adam bans me and blocks me from the site completely. Yet a dozen or so people can bash Rue all weekend (and what do you know its the same "jerks" as per usual...) What a joke. Adam you must of turned your computer off for the weekend.  
 
Oh and don't bother messaging me Adam just put this account in your pile of other ones you banished. It's likely time I make a new one anyway.

I refuse to let anyone else but me do the washing. If company wants to dry then that's fine but I need to know my dishes are clean to my standards. I'd rather do them once than have to wash a bunch again.

Wow Rue, sorry for you that you were attacked so enthusiastically lol. I too don't like when plates get put away with egg on them or there is still milk at the bottom of the glass when someone else has washed it AND dried it and put it in the cupboard. My solution...thanks so much but that's not much to wash, I'll do it tomorrow, let's just relax...graceful and less stress and your company and you have more time to visit. Or like some others have suggested, insist on washing (maybe your hands are sore today and soothed by hot water haha....)  
 
One thing I would like to point out to all the people yelling at you....I know soooo many people who will criticize a person, especially the lady of the house, if they happen to be a guest and receive a dirty glass or a dirty dish while in someone's home. "What a poor housekeeper such and such is". And not usually to their face but later behind their back. Or some will send plates and cups etc back in a restaurant for spots etc. Where are all those people that don't care about the dirty dishes lol.  
 
Not worth the fight. Just do them yourself.

why dont you run the water for them first. test the water several times so they get the idea that is the tempurature you want. if you scrap the dishes, the water will stay cleaner. if it does get dirty, you must have had a big crowd.. then just say lets clean up that water a bit and go ahead and drain it. done.
