Via the paste below from the Shoppers Mall, construction is to start this fall (i.e. asap) on an Original Joe's. I assume on the pad site to the South of Swiss Chalet?

As suspected it’s being built on the site originally thought to be for Fionn MacCools. With part of the construction process underway I imagine that’ll make it easier to have a building put up sooner than you’d normally see

This is exactly the type of restaurants we need more of in Brandon! Would love to see Mr Mike's, and State & Main as well. Brandon people love to eat out. It's a shame it's going to be so small, but better than not having one at all.

from my understanding.. this building will be up in no time as far as everything falls through properly. Most likely want to beat the snow.

The problem is the city has nothing for people to do. Eating out is becoming the "entertainment" portion of the personal budget, which means more restaurants. Soon the city will be nothing but a Walmart, dollar stores and restaurants.

Definitely been a lot of change in the eating space in the last year, but as long as people eat there will be restaurants
Would be a great idea for a new separate thread, to discuss businesses you'd like to see in the city within the context of market size and the current retail world.

Yes, you are right about that, going out for drinks and apps seems to be the thing to do. I still wonder how all these restaurants are going to be able to do a decent business with so much competition for our $$.

It’s always good to see my city grow however I don’t think we need more food places. Also I’m not sure how Brandon is going to handle the no kids policy they have... might be a few upset families not knowing and wanting to try it out. I’m okay with this as some times it’s nice to not go out and see children around. Don’t get me wrong, kids can be great.. but some times it’s nice to have a good dining experience without them.

Have eaten at the one on at Unicity in Winnipeg and had my kids with me with no issues. Looking on their website it mentions some don’t allow minors. Be interested to see what the one here does.

If it’s as small as it seems it might be okay to not let kids in.... they won’t need to work hard to fill the place. And might be a draw to have no kids.

Hopefully the company building it doesn't take as long as it has building where the old Fast Gas was. Progress has started which is a good thing, hope it continues till finished.

Neepawa needs some restaurants

Kind of a in a vacuum up here in Neepawa. Need a steak house or something to serve everyone around here. (Big area)
Chicken Delight has shut down (love their chicken) and Mr. Ribs and Brahma's have also closed. Hopefully some will buy the chicken delight franchise but also need one or two more night out places.

I didn't know they did that. That is a fantastic idea and if good I will support them regularly. Be nice to go out for a nice dinner and not have to listen and watch someones crying kid make a mess while the parent could care less.

I think I'm happier with Original Joes coming rather than Fionn MacCool's, Original Joe's menu/tap selection seems more interesting than Fionn MacCool's. I wonder how Brown's Socialhouse will do against Original Joes

I've eaten at both in Winnipeg. Fionns is way better, IMO.

I also believe that it depends on the chef and how the restaurant is ran under ownership.

I like their menu way better than fionn mccools. Fionn has some items in their menu that are just plain weird to me
