I have run both

KO2's and Duratracs and it really depends on what you want. I would honestly call the pro's and discuss what you want out of the tire! I called around on my last set and had 4 tires picked out (Nitto, KO2, Duratracs & one other I can't remember) and when I called KK Penners they were the only ones that asked me questions. As soon as they heard I would be towing a trailer they pointed me towards KO2 for the extra sidewall protection, warranty and overall durability. I didn't purchase them there, as I purchased them locally, but they were very helpful and I want to say the KO2's were less expensive then Duratracs.
I ran Duratracs for years on my work trucks and never had a stitch of trouble with them. They lasted fairly decent, but we also abused the tires within the oilpatch. Lots of gravel/mud and handled nicely on the hwy. The guy at the tire shop did say they didn't have the same warranty and sidewall protection as the KO2, but they rode a lot nicer on the Hwy. then the KO2's.
So I guess it really depends what you want at the end of the day. Both tires will be louder then normal tires. Duratracs are softer riding, KO2 you feel lots of the road. Price is typically not a whole lot different for a comparable "normal" tire (not a M/T). Fuel consumption goes up a noticeable amount with a more aggressive tire (anyone that tells you different is lying, my truck went from average 10-14lt/100km to 15-18lt/100km). The look of a M/T will make your jeep look great (if you are into pettiness, like I was).
I have a new SUV and while a set of KO2 would really make it stand out from all the other white SUV's. on the road, I can not justify ruining my mileage with a set of M/T's and with only ever really driving down a few miles of gravel ever my Goodyear Silent Armour (or whatever they call them now) will last me upwards of 100,000kms and are good in snow, slush, rain, hot/freezing temps and in the amount of mud I will ever put it into. The company (400+ vehicles) I used to work for in the patch started running Silent Armour's and left the duratracs for added fuel mileage and life and I never got stuck in the mud with them, but also never went thru 3' of mud like back in the flood years with my duratracs. If I ever started abusing my SUV. it would be back to the KO2's hands down!!!
