Enough with the cold and snow you say? For at least a little while on Saturday Green Spot might just have a solution for you and family with ‘Tropical Day.’
To create a beach-y atmosphere in their greenhouse which already has its share of tropical plants and birds, a yard of sand will be brought in along with sand toys to give the kiddos a chance to indulge in one of their favourite summer activities. Hot dogs, chips and slushies will also be available to give an opportunity to make an outing out of it.
I gather the greenhouse runs at around 15 degrees temperature-wise, so probably not quite shorts weather but a chance for toes to get re-acquainted with sand all the same.
This is the second year that the local greenhouse has held a tropical day with last year attracting enough families to bring it back.
Green Spot will be open from 10-5 on Saturday. They are currently maintaining winter hours but are just over a week away from signalling that spring isn’t very far away by flipping the switch to normal hours.
