As one of Brandon’s more dangerous intersections, 18th Street and Braecrest Drive was the subject of much discussion on here several weeks ago as folks swapped ideas on how to make turning off of Braecrest a more safe experiment for local drivers. On Thursday you get your opportunity to share feedback that may help guide the direction that’s ultimately taken with not only that intersection but 1st and Braecrest and other transport options effecting the area defined as the Braecrest Corridor.
In conjunction with the Province and a consulting and engineering firm the City has invited the public to an open house in the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts building on ACC’s North Hill campus on Thursday from 4-7pm.
At the open house you’ll be able to view conceptual design alternatives and share feedback. If you can’t make it a link to presentation boards and comment sheets will be made available online afterwards.
Suggestions in a December eBrandon discussion included a range of ideas that may make use of traffic lights, roundabouts and even more ambitious re-conceiving of infrastructure in the area. It shouldn’t be confused with letting those in charge of the project know your two cents but you can review some of those ideas that came out of December’s discussion in the thread that’s been attached to this post.
Full info on the study can be found at this link on the City website, where its indicated that a preferred deign is expected to be chosen and presented by the spring.
