City: Spike in frozen line calls leads to wait list

Posted by Adam in Local News, 3/14, 4:37 PM

With the warmup in weather, the City of Brandon has advised this afternoon of a spike in calls to its Meter Shop as a result of frozen water services.

When temperatures go up, the frost level is said to drive lower into the ground resulting in an increase of frozen pipes. Thats when calls are placed into Public Works, though the volume of such calls is currently in a state where a wait list has been created that is said to be approximately three dozen homes deep. In wait list scenarios, temporary water hookups are being made use of in order for homes to have service until staff are able to attend to their issue.

Its been the subject of a discussion thread started earlier today in the forums where members have exchanged experiences including one whose water had been out from Monday until Thursday. You can read those experiences and share your own in the attached thread.

If you have an impacted property, more information has been made available in the full public notice at http://www.brandon.ca/public-notices-details?var=4765
