Tastees is now open for the season and serving from their menu that offers a mix of full meals and desserts. New this year is a little something unique that you likely haven’t seen before at a restaurant in town... a cold treat known as the “Egg Waffle.”
Popular in Hong Kong, its name comes from the English translation of its Cantonese name, which is more literally “little eggs.” It sounds like in Hong Kong its common for the waffles to be eaten by themselves, or as is the case here dressed up with various treats.
Tastees has been under ownership since last year by Ken Chan and Claudia Leung, originally from the autonomous territory in Southeast China. Ken had previously been a chef in Hong Kong and Australia, then worked in that capacity at a local business prior to buying Tastees. Both are quite accustomed to having “little eggs” going back to when they were kids, leading to their introducing it to Brandon.
Beyond this addition it doesn’t sound like there are any plans for any larger scale changes at the restaurant, which has an established menu and customer-base.
Egg waffles are available in chocolate and original flavours with choice of soft or hard ice cream and the opportunity to dress up with a topping of choice for $6.99.
