The melt is on and with that the cover comes off of roads within Brandon and Westman, showing what’s underneath for all to see warts and all.
CAA for a number of years running has conducted an annual “worst roads” campaign that gives you a chance to identify streets and highways that you feel are in particularly bad shape. According to CAA, Worst Roads are “classified as having potholes, crumbling pavement, poor road signage, limited or non- existent cycling or walking infrastructure, traffic congestion, or limited crossing opportunities.”
After a period of voting from the public that ends at midnight on April 16, a list is compiled and released of Manitoba’s worst.
Last year Brandon didn’t have a road in the Top 10. Boissevain’s PR 450 came in at #2 in the Province and Brookdale’s PR 353 came in 9th. Back in 2013 Brandon’s Victoria Ave took top spot and is often cited as an example for how voting can generate awareness.
