The question has come up in the discussion forums from time to time of where one is able to volunteer their time and abilities to give back in the community and perhaps even in the process indulge in the positive effects one experiences personally when helping where needed.
As a lead in to National Volunteer Week, The United Way has helped organize an event taking place today that provides every opportunity to get answers to that very question.
The United Way of Brandon and District Volunteer Fair is taking place in Shoppers Mall today and includes tables with representatives from thirteen organizations that are regularly seeking volunteer help:
- Big Brothers and Sisters
- Volunteer Manitoba
- Westman Aphasia
- WCG TV
- Brandon Riverbank
- Canadian Red Cross
- Manitoba SwimAbility
- Mood Disorders Canada
- Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba
- Brandon Festival of the Arts
- United Way Brandon & District
- Brandon Literacy Council
Everyone will be setup until 5pm on the main aisle of the Mall starting just North of the Food Court. If you happen to be reading this after that, any of the above organizations will be more than happy to chat about available opportunities by contacting directly.
