Dauphinâs Countryfest is celebrating its 30th birthday and as part of marking the occasion a contest is being conducted that will see a non-profit in one Manitoba municipality awarded the opportunity to host a concert featuring country music stars George Canyon and Charlie Major.
âOur Birthday, Your Partyâ kicked off in late November by asking for entries from Manitoba communities under 10,000 in population. Recently amongst 60 submissions received the field has been narrowed and the Top 7 communities have been selected for a vote that will choose the winner to host the concert thatâs to take place on May 18.
That Top 7 includes three communities from Southwestern Manitoba:
- Grandview (Grandview Kinsmen Club)
- Hamiota (Hamiota Economic Development)
- Boissevain (Turtle Mountain Community Development)
As of the time of this posting Grandview is shown as leading voting with 1836, which is 200 votes ahead of Oakvilleâs 1636. Hamiota and Boissevain are in 6th and 7th place respectively.
Voting is on until this Friday, April 12 at 11:59pm. To review rules, voting results and vote for your choice the link is https://ourbirthdayyourparty.ca
The winner will receive said concert and have the opportunity to raise funds through the event by selling tickets and through associated concession sales .
Canyon and Major will be in Brandon the prior night (May 17) for a show at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium.
