Since the Spring of 2016 the Brandon Regional Health Centre has been undergoing a multi-phased redevelopment project across three separate floors aimed at expanding the amount of available beds, enhancing wheelchair accessibility and expanding/improving areas for patients, staff and family support.
The first of four phases saw the relocation of the Pediatric Ward from the 5th floor to a newly renovated 2nd floor space. Pediatric updates included a move to all single rooms and a dedicated play room. Also since complete are medical bed expansions on the fifth floor and upgrades to the East side of the fourth floor.
The fourth and final phase that’s nearing completion is taking place on the West side of the fourth floor. When all is finished the fourth floor will be essentially new from top to bottom including 31 beds in larger rooms than previous. When added to the 29 beds on the 5th floor it represents 12 more available beds than before.
Completion is scheduled for late May with the remaining new beds and rooms expected to go into use for June.
