As if stealing the Easter Bunny’s thunder, a stray beaver made for quite a scene on Victoria Avenue on Friday night.
Initially seen walking along the North sidewalk on Victoria, it was spotted crossing the intersection with 18th street around 11pm a good distance from where you might normally expect such an encounter in the city. By about 20 minutes later it had followed a path along Victoria past 11th street, at times crossing onto the road itself and causing its share of commotion for oncoming traffic with vehicles swerving, hitting the breaks and no shortage of folks reaching for cell phones.
Reports place the same animal around town for at least the past two days as it hopefully finds its way back to more natural and safe habitat. I managed to take a few pics from safe distance and have included in a bit of a gallery below:
