Add one more major construction project to the docket in Brandon, Koch Fertilizer Canada announced today the impending construction of a brand new $33 million 2-storey local headquarters.
According to a press release issued today, when complete the new building will have office space to house over 100 employees across operations, logistics, sales and marketing and will include a new control room, upgraded art process control instrumentation, a laboratory and maintenance shop. Currently said employees are scattered over multiple buildings, not all of which being at their 17th street East location.
The project is to break ground today with expected completion being the fourth quarter of next year. The investment is the first in a planned almost $130 million spend over the next five years in upgrades to the facility.
According to Economic Development statistics the company employs 300 locally. As a whole, Wichita, Kansas-based parent Koch Industries employs almost 130,000 worldwide across its group of companies.
Other major projects planned or underway in the city this summer include a new Holiday Inn Express on 18th street, Maryland Park school at 9th street and Maryland Ave and if all goes according to plan the first phase of Riverside Lifestyle Estates adjacent to the Wheat City Golf Course.
