Construction on the Daly Overpass expansion is tentatively scheduled to begin next year according to a report today by the Brandon Sun. When complete in 2023 it would fulfill the bottleneck-reducing vision of two lanes in each of the North and South directions on 18th street across the length of the city.
Construction on new Thompson bridges completed on 18th street several years ago with the intent to update the Daly bridge being first announced in 2015. In late 2017 four design options were presented as part of the project with little heard publicly from that point in time.
The Province has in March budgeted $70 million for the project with the Federal Goverment portion said in the report to be $20 million.
