In January plans were learned of a fun new initiative to bring many downtown walls to life with murals created by an assortment of artists with the stated goal of bringing a new sense of energy to downtown.
With locations and artists chosen and the weather much more cooperative that plan is now moving full steam ahead. This past week the first mural was created by artist Miguel Rodriguez on the wall of the Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation building on the 400 block of Rosser Avenue (as seen in the picture attached to this post). Though to my eye the whole vibrant scene is already great it sounds like a few small touch-ups are still to be made.
Not long after, James Culleton got to work on a creation of his own on a wall on a building on the 900 block of Rosser Avenue. That second mural was completed this past weekend:

A request for proposal had been put out during the winter for artists residing in Canada who for $5000 would be able to create murals on various pre-selected walls downtown. In total six more works are to be created between now and July at locations on Rosser Avenue, Pacific Avenue, 10th street and 11th street. They will join the “Home in the Blue Hills” work that was created on a West-facing wall on Rosser last year.
