After approximately seven months, a study of Brandon’s Braecrest Drive Corridor reached the phase this week of public presentation of recommendations for the area. While various infrastructure topics were covered, a major item that’s been a focus of folks on this site has been the at-times-dangerous intersection of 18th street and Braecrest Drive.
Based on the recommendation shared on Thursday, a roundabout is suggested for the intersection. In the more immediate term Quail Ridge Drive, which runs North off of Braecrest, is to be extended to link up with Mockingbird Drive which runs just South of Kelleher Ford and connects to the service road that runs North-South in parallel with 18th street. The latter it’s said will help alleviate issues with turning left off of Braecrest onto 18th street at high traffic times.
An additional roundabout is to be constructed where Braecrest intersects with Daly Crescent.
According to a Friday Brandon Sun story, the next step is for the recommendations to be submitted to council who will then decide if and how to proceed.
