The honours keep coming for James Ehnes.
The Brandon-born-and-raised violinist has been named as one of 12 to receive the Order of Manitoba for the 2019 year. A press release distributed yesterday describes recipients as having “demonstrated excellence and achievement, thereby enriching the social, cultural or economic well-being of the province and its residents.”
Recipients will receive the Province’s highest honour at a ceremony at the Manitoba Legislature in July presided over by Lt-Gov Janice C. Filmon. After that time their names will be included amongst those permanently on display at the Legislature for having received the honour.

Ehnes, who now resides in Florida, previously was named to the Order of Canada in 2010. Earlier this year he won the Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo.
