This weekend will mark the one year anniversary of the horrible fire Downtown that destroyed Christie’s Office Plus’ building, rendered Massey Manor unusable and claimed two more nearby buildings.
If you’ve been in the area recently or noticed the aerial photo from late last month in this section you’re probably well aware that Massey Manor's exterior is showing signs of repair underway. Thanks to a depth story from CBC’s Riley Laychuk there’s now a great chance to have a look inside as construction efforts undertake the involved project of rebuilding all 59 suites from the ground up.
From the story, it’s said the hope is to have the building ready for families by late October or early November as work is done to repair damage caused in majority by the high volume of water that had to be used to battle the blaze. More including more pics can be read at:
Christie's now operates out of a location in the Town Centre at 800 Rosser Avenue.
Last week it was learned that the fire served as inspiration for a local student’s potentially life-saving initiative.
