The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks are just one week away from May 28’s home opener at Andrews Field. While the team has over the past few months slowly revealed the roster and staff for its inaugural season, they’ve left one tiny detail out until this evening. In a social media post tonight the club gave a look at the final piece to their roster… a feathered fellow known as ’Jack.’
On its promotional schedule for the season the team has a Mascots Party scheduled for June 9 where there will presumably be plenty of chance for #00 to get acquainted with Willie (Wheat Kings) and Bailey the Bobcat among others on the local mascot circuit.
The Whiskey Jacks open their season on the road this weekend in Minot against the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs before returning to Brandon on Tuesday to host the same Sabre Dogs. Tuesday will be what the team has called “Fireworks Night,” where a post-game fireworks show will help mark the debut of the city's newest team.
Also on the topic of the Whiskey Jacks, Shoppers Mall will be hosting a meet and greet with the team on Sunday afternoon between 1 and 3pm. Over that time fans will have a chance to meet and take pictures with players and coaches with the first 100 kids receiving a free plush baseball.
