Plans continue to move forward on an exciting new venture that’s just weeks away from bringing a truly unique kind of summer fun to Brandon’s Keystone Centre grounds.
As part of a giant inflatable waterslide park to be constructed, a representative of the venture tells me that within a soon-to-be 700ft x 700ft fenced area on the Southern portion of the Keystone grounds will be:
- eight inflatable waterslides including the feature 43 foot high, 130 foot long "Purple Monster" (pictured) and 130 foot dropkick waterslide (pictured)
- a 75 foot inflatable obstacle course
- archery tag
- bubble soccer
- a tiny tot area intended for kids aged 2-5
A large quantity of astroturf is being brought in to surface much of the enclosed area. Recently it was learned that the site will also include a makeshift beach, constructed with three semi loads of sand and giant umbrellas.
Both a food truck (Pork Floyd) and hot dog stand will be on-site to provide food and refreshments.
There will be two types of admission. For those only wishing to use waterslides, cost will be $10 for kids aged 10 and under, $12 for age 11-18 and $15 for adults. Pricing for full access to everything including the obstacle course, bubble soccer and archery tag will be $12 for age 10 and under, $15 for ages 11-18 and $20 for adults. If attending as a chaperone without the above amenities the cost would be $8. As part of the latter it does sound like chaperones would have access to the beach area and everything inside the park without using the actual attractions.
Targeted opening is June 14, just three weeks from Friday. From that point the park will be in operation between 11am and 8pm until July 28th.
Brandon Bouncy Castles, the operator of the park, will be hiring ten full-time staff and 15-25 part-time staff as part of a job fair to be held tomorrow (May 24) at Career Youth Employment Services on Princess Avenue in Downtown Brandon.
