Manitoba will have an early Provincial election this year, Progressive Conservative leader Brian Pallister announced this afternoon.
The 42nd Manitoba general election will take place on September 10, more than one year earlier than the otherwise fixed election date of October 6, 2020.
Earlier in the day Elections Manitoba had sent out a news release advising of in-person voter registration to be taking place in Shoppers Mall beginning tomorrow. For each of Thursday, Friday and Saturday voters will be able to check if they’re registered to vote, register or update their information between the hours of 9:30am and 9pm in the Food Court across from New York Fries. The same service will be available on Sunday between 11am and 5pm and Monday between 9:30am and 9pm. In April online voter registration was launched at https://www.electionsmanitoba.ca
A discussion thread has been started in the forums to provide opportunity for folks to express thoughts on the upcoming vote. That discussion link has been attached to this posting.
Manitobans last voted on April 19, 2016 with Pallister's Progressive Conservatives winning 40 seats including both Brandon East and Brandon West.
Voters will also vote in a Federal election nearly six weeks later on October 21.
