Available offerings for local pet owners will soon increase with the information today that retail chain PetSmart intends to open a Brandon store.
PetSmart tells me that the planned opening is to be early next year. No information is available at this point on intended location or store design. Speculation in the community had placed the retailer as one possibility to occupy the recently leased 13,595 square feet of space that had been part of the former Shoppers Drug Mart location on 18th street South. Other unoccupied retail space exists in the cityâs far West end with additional possibilities in the extreme South end.
On its Facebook page PetSmart describes itself as Canadaâs largest specialty pet retailer of services and solutions for the lifetime needs of pets. Offerings are described as pet supplies, pet food, dog training, pet grooming, pet adoption services and pet boarding. Itâs not known at this time which of those specific offerings would be available as part of the planned Brandon store, which will not necessarily exactly resemble the stock store image attached to this post.
The retailer has four other Manitoba locations, all in Winnipeg. Throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico it operates more than 1,650 pet stores.
