And then there were two.
New to Westman food truck Poutine King has setup shop temporarily this month at the Northeast corner of the Riverbank Discovery Centre parking lot, offering up from its menu of 17 different poutine varieties.
The truck is operated by the same crew behind another local truck, Smoked and Sauced. Among its 17 creative poutine servings are the Kalbi BBQ (which includes Korean Beef, Kimchi, green onions and coriander alongside gravy, cheese curds and fries) and the Mighty Zeus (Greek style beef gyro, feta, diced tomatoes, caramelized onions and tzatziki sauce and of course gravy and cheese curds with fresh cut fries).
Poutine King joins local ice cream truck The Batchery at the site, creating something a little closer to a one stop shop for folks visiting the Riverbank area for all that it has to offer.
Poutine King, which makes appearances at a wide assortment of events around the province throughout the summer, will only be on-site until mid-July. Until that time planned hours will run from lunch time until around 7pm. In mid-July it’s then expected that Smoked and Sauced will swap in in their place for the rest of the month save for when attending events. The Batchery plans to be at the location into September, staying open from 1pm until 8pm.
The Batchery had been operating last year out of a location in the BU Healthy Living Centre parking lot since the summer of 2015 before a 2019 move to the Discovery Centre area. In addition to its regularly changing menu of ice cream and sorbet flavours, it has this year added a sampling of lactose-free flavours.
This spring it was learned that another food truck, Hogs Dogs and Fries, would setup for the summer at Dinsdale Park
