As they turn their eye toward preparations for the 2019-2020 season, the Brandon Wheat Kings have turned to one of their own to take on the role of General Manager of the hockey club.
Darren Ritchie has been announced this morning to be the 12th General Manager in franchise history.
Ritchie had previously served in the role of the club’s director of scouting, and before that as an assistant coach with the team. Many years prior to that local fans will be familiar with his body of work as a player with the Wheat Kings during the 1990s, a time that included a 62-goal season in 1994-95
The General Manager role had been vacant since May’s announcement that Grant Armstrong would not be returning.
Focus now shifts to the Wheat Kings filling their Head Coach vacancy, which it’s said an announcement is expected on within the next week.
