The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks will wrap up the schedule on their season this coming weekend with a three game series on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the Spearfish Sasquatch at Andrews Field.
Promotions lined up for the games include Friday’s “Fireworks Friday” post-game show and Saturday’s “Viva Las Vegas.” Sunday’s finale then presents a great last chance to take in action from the inaugural season thanks to the team’s first bobblehead giveaway on what’s dubbed “Fan Appreciation Day.” The first 500 fans in the ball park for the game will get a free bobblehead figure featuring the club’s mascot Jack. Bobblehead giveaways have long been a tradition locally, with the Wheat Kings most recently having last season given away a figure of one-time goaltender Ron Hextall. First pitch for Friday and Saturday's games is 7:05pm with Sunday getting underway at an earlier 4:35pm start time.
The Jacks will finish 5th in the Lewis Division in the Expedition League’s second half and overall standings and not qualify for the post-season. The level of entertainment, quality of in-game fan experience and presence in the community have been welcome additions to summer in Brandon and following this weekend’s games it’ll be great to see how they continue to build on that tradition in the off-season and into next year.
