If you have cattle there’s a good chance you already know all too well the trying circumstances that this week led Manitoba Beef Producers and Keystone Agricultural Producers to issue a joint call for farmers throughout the province to list available hay, straw and alternative feeds for sale.
After consecutive dry years, hay and forage yields are said to be below expected levels leading to a shortage of feed. Thankfully there are signs in recent days of some answers locally to that call with six separate postings since Friday alone in the Feed/Bedding tag within the highly used Agricultural Merchandise category of the classifieds on this site in addition to eight more earlier in the week. The fact that the average number of views on those ads exceeds 400 speaks to demand amongst those browsing ads
If you are in a position to sell, please consider listing by:
- going the ad submission page for Merchandise: Agricultural at https://ebrandon.ca/createad.aspx?cat_id=39
- filling out the requested form fields, including checking the “Feed & Bedding” box under the “Tags” heading
- though I always recommend including a picture with an ad to give potential buyers the best possible chance of knowing what they’re buying, don’t let that hold you up from posting under these particularly unique circumstances. You can always chat with prospective buyers after they contact you to decide if what you are offering meets their needs
- click on the submit button at the bottom of the page, checking your email for a confirmation message with the link you’ll need to click on to complete the posting of your ad
If you’re looking to see what others have listed, the Feed & Bedding category can be directly accessed here. If after clicking on an ad you see something you’d like to inquire on and the seller has chosen not to list a phone number you can reply to the ad in one of two ways depending on how big the screen is on the device you’re browsing eBrandon on. If you’re on a larger screen such as tablet, laptop or desktop you’ll see a reply form in the right-hand column of the ad that you’re reading. In that form is a box that includes the text “type a message to send this advertiser.” If you’re on a smaller device such as smartphone, click on the round orange message button at the bottom-right of your screen when looking at the ad to open the message window.
If anyone on the buying or selling side needs any assistance at all please don’t hesitate to drop me a note at https://eBrandon.ca/contact.aspx
