The 2019 edition of Ribfest is in the books and after three days of rib, chicken and pulled pork goodness organizers have crowned a winner. After a tally of all visitor votes, the folks with event host Sunset Rotary Brandon shared this afternoon that Crabby’s BBQ Shack was the Peoples’ Choice. Crabby’s didn’t stop there, also being judged to have best Ribs and Best Chicken.
The event saw the debut of Michigan’s Billy’s BBQ, who were quite well received going by chatter in the discussion forums on the weekend. At the end of the weekend Billy’s was judged to have Best Pulled Pork. Also seeing their share of lineups and rounding out the lineup of three ‘Ribbers’ were Texas Rangers.
Though most wouldn’t go as far as describing the weekend’s weather as ideal by Brandon summer standards, the fact that forecasted rain for Saturday and below-normal temps for Sunday each never came to be had to be seen as a win for organizers and attendees alike in the quest to introduce savoury ribs to as many taste buds as possible.
According to organizers the event topped last year in terms of amount of folks that came out. Based on that it sounds like vendors were all happy and that there’s already an eye forward on Ribfest 2020.
This was the third year for Ribfest and the second-straight in the Keystone Centre parking lot. The same three Ribbers now move onto the provincial capital for Ribfest Winnipeg starting on Friday.
