All appears to have been restored on Monday evening after an outage effecting a significant swath of Brandon resulted in what Manitoba Hydro said was about 1470 local customers being without power.
A map on Hydroâs outages page showing the area initially without power indicated that the portion of the city most effected was North of the CP railway tracks and included the busy Corral Centre shopping area. After response from
crews, Manitoba Hydro shared later Monday that all customers had seen service restored by 5:50pm
The cause of the outage, which data shows as being first reported at 4:45pm, is said to have been a kite in a follow-up tweet from Hydro. There is no word at this time on the status of the person that had been flying the kite.
Updated: August 26, 7:15pm. Updated with info on restored power to customers.
