The Discovery Centre on Wednesday morning was visibly in the midst of transformation as various participants in this weekend’s Food Truck Warz take over the Riverbank area in anticipation of the 3rd Annual event. Close to lunch time the crew behind the midway could be seen well into setting up the various rides and attractions in a large portion of what is typically the paved parking lot.
Over the course of the next two days 26 Food Trucks are to setup on-site along with the midway, beer garden and on Saturday and Sunday an Apple & Pine market said to feature over 30 vendors/artisans.
All eyes are on the weather for the weekend and a forecast that has shifted somewhat over the past few days. Environment Canada's forecast as of mid-Thursday afternoon suggested that a wet system currently effecting the city will continue into Friday before clearing on Friday afternoon. That would be good news for the rain-or-shine event that's scheduled to get underway at 5pm Friday. At any rate both Saturday and Sunday are called to be near-picture-perfect with sunny skies and highs of 22 and 26 respectively. Please check most recent forecast for most up-to-date info.
Food Truck Warz is making its Discovery Centre debut after being setup in Brandon's Downtown area last year and the Victoria Inn parking lot the year prior. All gets underway on Friday at 5pm and runs to 11pm. Saturday hours run from 11-11 followed by 11am-5pm on Sunday. Admission is free with a $2 per vehicle on-site parking charge.
