Brandonites will see a new eating option in the not-too-distant future when rapidly expanding fast casual restaurant chain Wayback Burgers opens a planned location in the city.
According to information on the franchise’s website the location is to be 1240 18th Street Unit B. That would place it adjacent to workout and nutrition products retailer Supplement King which has occupied Unit A since its opening earlier this year.
On its Facebook page Wayback Burgers describes itself as a "fast casual burger joint serving fresh, never-frozen beef patties, hand-dipped milkshakes and other items the Wayback way." A menu for its Winnipeg location includes options such as beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, a haddock sandwich, chicken tenders and salads. Side options show as including bacon cheese fries, chilli cheese fries, irish nachos and poutine among others.
There had been some discussion in the community around development at 1240 18th, which is also slated to soon have work done to better accommodate an additional future tenant in Unit C behind Units A & B.
In light of work taking place, a would-be future neighbour shared info on access to their business amidst construction:
Wayback Burgers primarily has locations based in the United States with a small handful internationally in countries such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and The Netherlands. A first Canadian location was opened in Winnipeg’s St. James area (pictured) in May. Further expansion in the prairies appears to be in the cards with there presently being advertisements for franchisees in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert in addition to Brandon and Winnipeg.
The intended timeline for the upcoming Brandon location was not yet known.
