After more than a decade of hiatus, professional Mixed Martial Arts is returning to Brandon.
The Keystone Centre announced today in conjunction with TeoFista 36 Boxing Promotions that a MMA and professional boxing event dubbed Fight for the Troops will take place on November 9th in the Keystone’s Manitoba Room.
The event, which has been referred to as the first of its kind locally, will lead with a professional boxing card of four fights that will among others include 3x amateur Manitoba provincial champion TJ Flett as well as the undefeated Rodman Batson. Both Flett and Batson are local fighters.
The second portion of the evening will feature a total of six MMA fights including Brandon’s own Curtis “The Demon” DeMarce as well as local fighter Ian “The Fireman” White. The bout will be DeMarce's first professional match in his hometown and 37th career. White's fight will be the second of his young career.
In today’s press release (see below) announcing the event it’s said that the card as a whole will feature some of Canada’s top boxers and some of North America’s top elite athletes in mixed martial arts.
In honour of Remembrance Day that same weekend a special military flag party is to be held alongside a moment of silence in honour of those that fight and have fought for our country.
In excess of 1000 tickets will be available for sale for the event, which is to be held within the Keystone’s Manitoba room starting at 7:30pm on November 9th. Tickets are available on the Keystone Centre tickets website as well as the Keystone box office.
Fight for the Troops is sanctioned by the Manitoba Combative Sports Commission with its card said to be subject to change.
